Nowhere is the worldwide erosion of democracy, fueled by social media disinformation campaigns, more evident than in the authoritarian regime of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. In “A Thousand Cuts,” journalist Maria Ressa places the tools of the free press — and her freedom — on the line in defense of truth and democracy. This film is directed and written by Ramona S. Diaz.

This session was available to ticket holders of the 2020 Texas Tribune Festival to watch live and was not available on demand.

Check out the Festival website for some of our freely available favorite sessions, and sign up to receive updates from the Festival team about available session videos, upcoming events and news on #TribFest21.

The screening and conversation is presented in partnership with Alamo on Demand and sponsored by AT&T.
