Heather Vaughn directs the Educational Outreach Programs for the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life located at The University of Texas at Austin. With most of her career devoted to curriculum development and teacher training, she has served as a district administrator, a district specialist, and an educator in the classroom. At University of Texas High School, she created and instructed online gifted/talented professional development courses, facilitated the AP Summer Institutes, as well as coordinated the state Credit by Exam development. In Pflugerville ISD, she coordinated the ASCEND Program and curriculum for highly gifted students and conducted G/T thirty-hour foundational training for district educators. Ms. Vaughn has been recognized by the National Association for Gifted Children and the Texas Association for Gifted and Talented for her contributions in creating and championing services for gifted students. Ms. Vaughn holds graduate degrees from the University of Mississippi and the University of Georgia.
